Joliet, Ill. – The University of Chicago outdoor track and field teams produced more high national marks Friday and Saturday at the University of Saint Francis Fighting Chance Invite.
In the final weeks before the NCAA national meet, the Maroons continued their push to qualify additional athletes and strengthen their seedings.
Gabriella Meschino Was runner-up in the 100m with a wind-aided time of 11.70 (top five nationally) and third in the 200m with a wind-aided time of 24.69 (top 30 nationally). Lorraine Brown Was third in the 100 m hurdles with a wind-aided time of 14.12 (14th nationally). Brown posted an even stronger time in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing second at 1:01.19 with the seventh best time in Division III.
Caitlin Jorgensen Secured 2nd position in 3,000m steeplechase in 10:55.03 (21st nationally). UChicago placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the 5,000m Anna Kenig-Zeisler (16:48.23), Katrina Birimac (16:58.90) and Francis Scheffler (17:03.21).
Maya OrdonezA third-place time in the 800 meters moved her to No. 18 in the country (2:12.14). Molly Loumakis Improved his shot-put distance with a third-place performance of 13.70m (18th nationally).
4x100m relay team camilla garanton, Gabriella Meschino, easy lane And maddy lyons 46.93, rising to No. 13 nationally in the process. Sela Dengi Finished third in high jump 1.56m.
on the men’s side, simon dixon He once again took the lead in the shot put with a winning throw of 16.25m. Aryan Srivastava In the high jump, he was the runner-up in the 1.85m high jump. Andrew Ray Was third in the 110m hurdles in 14.90.
Two other Maroons advanced in the national rankings as well in distance races. Joe Lemna ran 3:48.65 in the 1,500m (28th nationally) and jack barber Posted 9:10.49 in the 3,000m steeplechase (33rd nationally).
