chicago – University of Chicago nicole gellar And Susannah Tritt Both were selected as the University Athletic Association’s (UAA) Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Geller earned UAA weekly honors in women’s tennis after a stellar weekend at the ITA Division III National Team Indoor Championships. Helped lead the second-ranked Maroons to a second straight ITA Indoor title as UChicago dispatched No. 11-ranked Carnegie Mellon University 7–1, No. 4-ranked Pomona-Pitzer 8–1 and No. 1 Gave. -Ranking Claremont-Mud-Scripps 5-1. Gellar went 3–0 at No. 3 singles and 2–1 at No. 3 doubles. So far this season, he has posted a 13-3 record in singles and 10-4 in doubles.
Truitt collected her second UAA Athlete of the Week award of the season in the women’s field events. In the final qualifying weekend before the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, the Maroon juniors competed in Carthage College’s Firebird Finale. Truitt set a new school record in the indoor pole vault with a clearance of 3.84 m. That elevation is currently ranked ninth in the country and has secured a spot in the NCAA Championships. The previous school record of 3.83m was set in 2020.
