When the mandalorian The Season 3 premiere “The Apostate” ends with Bo-Katan Krizz (Katee Sackhoff, in both clone wars animated series And the mandalorian) is in a difficult spot, having lost its mission to restore mandalore – for now. Who is Bo-Katan?
introduced in season 4 of the clone wars animated series, Bo-Katan Craze first appeared as Pre Vizsla’s lieutenant (voiced by the mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau), leader of the Mandalorian extremist group Death Watch. While the New Mandalorian movement was in power and emphasizing pacifism, Death Watch was a fringe group seeking to revive the ancient Mandalorian warrior culture: the way of wars, honor-bound duels, weapons and besker armor. To illustrate Death Watch’s own morality: Bo-Katan participated in Vizsla’s enslavement and murder of a village and to overthrow Bo-Katan’s own sister, Duchess Satine Craze (Anna Graves), from the throne of Mandalore. Who is Satin Craze?
This brings us to Duchess Satine Craze, a foil for her sister’s warrior ways. A designated regent of the 1,500 Systems, Satin believed that neutrality and pacifism were the future. after living through the mandalorian civil warWith many lives lost, and the forest scorched, he dedicates himself to erasing Mandalore’s warrior past, including the Beskar armor. (Note that Satin’s fashion sense is closer to Padmé Amidala’s sensibilities than traditional Beskar armor.)
The Duchess’s staunch neutrality especially put her at odds with both the Republic and Death Watch extremists. For one, the Republic’s Chancellor Palpatine (secretly Darth Sidious) insisted on Republic military inventions to “save” (occupy) Mandalore from growing threats. In the words of Satin, such a profession “[trample] Our right to self-determination. ,
Ultimately, although Bo-Katan tries to free Satin from Maul’s hold, the two never get a chance to work out their differences. True to the “coincidence” name of Ewan McGregor’s doomed love interest Moulin RougeSatin was killed by a darksaber wielded by Maul.
Posthumously, Satin inspired some of Bo-Katan’s later ambivalences regarding violence. “My sister tried [being that new kind of Mandalore leader], I never understood his idealism,” she gushes in Season 7, Episode 11. the clone wars, Still a resentful Mando, Bo-Katan does not accept his sister’s pacifism, but mourns the unity that could have been.
What happened to Mandalore?
After Satine’s assassination, Bo-Katan allies with the Republic to finally depose Maul from Mandalore – an unprecedented military alliance that violated 100-year-old treaties. Bo-Katan hoped that the Republic’s presence would be temporary, but would later result in the Republic’s capture by the Empire, and the “poisoning” of the planet in the Great Purge, as given in context. the mandalorian Season 2 and “Apostate.” So Bo-Katan’s fight for the liberation of Mandalore was never over, but the planet’s supposed habitable state made matters difficult.
Should we care about the nephew?
In “Chapter 11: The Heiress”, Bo-Katan claims that she is the last of her line. though star wars Television has yet to leave a loose end (branch?) in the family tree. So far, Corky has remained MIA in the Star Wars franchise, with no concrete confirmation of his death. Based on Mandalorian bloodline rules, Corky could be just another succession dispute waiting to happen. Or maybe Corky is just as relevant now as Daryl glass onion Mystery – What to say, is not important.
