It’s also unclear whether or not Taylor will have the same exact setlist every night, or if she’ll switch things up at each show. During the Reputation Tour, Taylor had a slot in the setlist where she played a different song from her vast catalog each night. This allowed fans to see her play tracks that she had not sung live in years. Additionally, Taylor has been known to bring special guests on stage for her shows, so there is always the possibility of different musical artists joining her to sing their own songs.

taylor swift ticketmaster controversy
When tickets for the Eras Tour went on sale, there was an unprecedented demand. Prior to the on sale date, fans were able to sign up for “Verified Fan” codes, which was Ticketmaster’s attempt to eliminate bots from purchasing tickets. A lottery-style drawing was conducted, in which only a select number of fans were given pre-sale codes to purchase tickets.
despite millions of fans No Ticketmaster crashed when Swifties piled on the site on the November 15 pre-sale date, even after receiving the code and being put on a “waitlist”. Millions of people attempted to enter the sale at the same time, causing the site to crash. Live Nation’s president later revealed that 14 million fans were attempting to sign in at once, despite Ticketmaster only expecting 1.5 million based on the codes provided.
Ticketmaster was forced to cancel the regular on-sale for the concert due to a lack of remaining tickets. Thousands of fans were unable to obtain tickets for the tour, leading to an outcry and backlash against Ticketmaster. Taylor took her on November 18 Instagram to the story address the situation, She specifically called out Ticketmaster for not being able to handle the demand of the situation, despite their assurances that it would be covered.
Taylor wrote, “It goes without saying that I am extremely protective of my fans.” “We’ve been doing this together for decades and over the years, I’ve brought a lot of elements of my career in-house. I’ve done it specifically to improve the quality of the experience for my fans, to bring it to my own team that cares for my fans as much as I do. It’s really hard for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and allegiances, and it hurts for me to just watch mistakes happen without recourse There are many reasons why people have had such a hard time getting tickets and I am trying to figure out how to improve the situation going forward. I am not going to make excuses for anyone because We asked them several times if they could handle such a demand and we were assured that they could. It’s really amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets, but it really bothers me. so many of them feel like they’ve had to go through several bear attacks to get them. People didn’t get tickets, all I can say is that my hope is to provide more opportunities for all of us to come together and sing these songs. Thank you for wanting to be there. You have no idea how much that means.
The same day, Ticketmaster apologized for the nuisance in a statement on its website. The company specifically apologized to Taylor and her fans, while also attempting to explain how things got out of control. Ticketmaster included statistics to show how many people were coming to the site to buy tickets, and explained how this astronomical number differed from the numbers they had experienced in the past. “Historically, about 40% [verified] fan [with presale codes] actually show up and most buy an average of 3 tickets,” the post explained. “About 1.5 million [of 3.5 million who signed up] Codes were sent to people to join the on-sale for all 52 dates.”
The post continued, “This time, the staggering number of bot attacks, as well as fans not having code, brought unprecedented traffic to our site, resulting in a total of 3.5 billion system requests.” The company also assured fans that they are “always working to improve the ticket buying experience.”
In January 2023, Ticketmaster/Live Nation faced a Senate hearing as to whether or not it had a monopoly on the ticketing industry. During the hearing, the CEO of Live Nation once again apologized to Taylor and her fans. “We need to do better and will do better,” he insisted, per associated Press, Ticketmaster higher-ups were grilled by the Senate during the hearings, and several senators as well. taylor swift song lyrics To get your point across.
