Rome — Barbora Strycova Earned her first singles win since returning from maternity leave, beating Marianna Znaevska 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in the first round of the Italian Open on Tuesday.
Strycova, 37, returned to the tour at the Madrid Open two weeks ago after more than two years away following the birth of her son Vincent. After beating Znaevska, Strycova was handed over to her 1-year-old son, whom she asked to “shake his hand at daddy” in front of TV cameras.
