
The body of OPP Sgt. Eric Muller will lead a 37-kilometer procession from Ottawa to Rockland, Ontario, east of the capital, on Saturday.
Muller, 42, was shot and killed in Bourget, Ont. Responding to a disturbance call on Thursday. Two other OPP officers were injured in the attack, which OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrick described as an “ambush”.
The procession will depart the Ottawa Hospital General Campus at 3:45 pm and travel east along Highway 417 to Highway 174, then Highway 17 to Rockland, arriving at 4:30 pm.

The OPP is inviting members of the public to join other first responders in watching the procession from the highway overpass along the route or along the shoulder of the bi-directional portion of Highway 17. To exit the multi-lane portion of highways with your vehicles, as this is a serious safety concern.
The police will be cremated at the Canadian Tire Center in Ottawa on Thursday. The OPP said details would be announced once they are finalised.
Mueller is a 21-year veteran of the force who began his policing career in Ottawa in 2002. In 2006, he was appointed as a Provincial Constable and in 2018 he was promoted to Sergeant.

Alain Bellefeuille, 39, was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder in Mueller’s death.
