OnePlus The 11R was recently launched as the company’s new contender for the mid-segment flagship crown. The device starts at an aggressive price of Rs 39,999 and takes the fight to the likes of iQOO and Realme, who have their own offerings in the segment. As a product, the OnePlus 11R takes us back to a time when OnePlus phones in this segment were packed with powerful hardware and tons of features, often making them very easy to recommend.

For example, the OnePlus 11R offers a flagship-grade chipset, decent cameras, a big battery, and even fast charging at the aforementioned aggressive price point. Here’s an in-depth look at the device to find out if it’s worth your hard-earned money.

With the design of the OnePlus 11R 5G, the company has chosen to use the same design language previously seen on some of its phones, including a more premium one. oneplus 11, Minus a few minute variations, the two look pretty much the same to the eye.

OnePlus 11R feels good in the hand and also has a good grip in the hand. The phone also has a balanced weight, which makes it feel every bit worth the price it’s asking for. Apart from this, we also have the iconic alert slider, which is back on the OnePlus 11R. The rear camera module is also similar in terms of design, however, the one on the OnePlus 11R does not come with Hasselblad branding, while the one on oneplus 11 displays it. Overall, this is a superbly designed device that definitely gets a recommendation from us.

Moving to the front of the phone, we have a 6.74-inch display which is curved and flaunts minimal bezels as well. It is an AMOLED display that sports a stabilized Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz peak refresh rate. It also supports HDR like the OnePlus 11, but unlike the company’s more expensive flagships, it doesn’t get support for Dolby Vision. The panel is covered with a sheet of Dragontrail glass for protection against scratches.

In terms of performance, we are happy to report that it performed better than expected. That’s because not only does the panel look like a million bucks with its curved edges, but it also offers good viewing angles and decent peak brightness as well as color accuracy for both sRGB and DCI-P3 color spaces.

Let’s talk numbers.

So as for brightness, we tested the panel to produce around 800 nits at its peak. This is the typical peak brightness of the panel, so expect the panel to hit the same number for a sustained period of time when you turn the brightness up to max. For daily use, this is a good number to get by as it is enough to ensure that the screen doesn’t look faded, or affect readability even when using the phone in harsh lighting conditions.

For color accuracy, the phone put up better numbers than the OnePlus 11. Testing the panel using the Calman Ultimate and Spectral C6 colorimeters, we found that the OnePlus 11 reproduced very accurate colors in the sRGB container, where the average DeltaE slipped to just 1.3, while the max was also close to acceptable levels at 2.4. remained inside

For the more challenging DCI-P3 container, the numbers were also good. In color check analysis, color accuracy saw an average error of 3 while Max Delta E jumped to 7.

A glance at the grayscale tracking revealed that both the contrast ratio and average correlated temperature were good, the latter very close to the 6500 Kelvin mark. Another point to note is that gamma tracking was also good for the most part.

gaming and general performance

Under the hood, we have the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC that propels the OnePlus 11R. While it’s not the fastest processor in town and has certainly been eclipsed by the OnePlus 11’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, the difference isn’t something you’ll notice outside the scope of synthetic benchmarks.

The chipset paired with the high amount of RAM in both the variants of the device is good enough for any daily usage tasks. Apps load quickly, and switching between them or scrolling between pages is fast and smooth. Gaming on the phone is also a decent experience, with device-handling games like Call of Duty Mobile and Asphalt 9 Legends at very good average FPS and stability.

Benchmark performance is also nothing to complain about, with important ones like AnTuTu, Geekbench and 3DMark WildLife Extreme all clocking decent numbers on the phone. For instance, on AnTuTu the phone scored a high of 838309 points while on 3DMark Wildlife Extreme we saw it with a high score of 2796 points. Both, if we may add, good points.

The lights are kept on the device using a 5,000mAh battery, which comes with support for 100W fast wired charging. This ensures that the phone can last for more than a day on a full charge and can be charged in just 25 minutes when it is idle. There’s no wireless charging support, however, so choose wisely if this is a deal breaker for you.

camera

Keeping with the theme of keeping the experience very close to the OnePlus 11, the OnePlus 11R 5G sports the same main camera as the OnePlus 11 5G. This Sony The IMX890 50-megapixel sensor with OIS is capable of clicking some very detailed shots with punchy and vibrant colours. Daytime performance is great as expected, and images come out with good details and accurate colors even in low light.

Other lenses on the device include an 8-megapixel ultra-wide and a 2-megapixel macro camera. Both are out for more than just making numbers, and their performance, especially in well-lit conditions, is good. The shots clicked using the two lenses come out with plenty of detail and good dynamic range, which is a very important factor for an ultra-wide lens.

On the front, we have the 16-megapixel lens, which captures accurate skin tones and thankfully doesn’t kill detail on faces by over-smoothing textures. The low-light performance of this lens is similar. However, it does not offer the ability to click selfie portraits at multiple focal lengths as the OnePlus 11 does.

Other than that, everything else is pretty similar to the OnePlus 11, as the camera app and most of the features are what we’ve seen on more expensive flagships before. This, of course, is not taking into account the Hasselblad Pro mode, which is missing on the OnePlus 11R along with the Xpan mode.

Decision

The OnePlus 11R is the phone for OnePlus enthusiasts, which makes it a great device for the average buyer who wants a fast phone with good cameras and a big battery, but one that still doesn’t give them the luxury of breaking the phone. does not force. Bank for this.

It has everything you need and then some more and that too at an aggressive price. However, if the OnePlus 11R still doesn’t feel like the phone for you, you can always consider devices like Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Which are being offered at a similar price point, and also bring good hardware and nice features to the table.
