The mother of an 11-month-old boy who was filmed with a vape in his mouth has broken her silence – she says she regrets the incident and didn’t realize she was being filmed at the time Was.

The NSW mother, who was filmed laughing while the little boy inhaled fumes from a vape, was widely condemned after footage was shared on social media.

Officers attached to the Mid North Coast Police District attended a home in Kempsey on Tuesday following a “well-being report” regarding the young boy.

The check emerged after footage posted on social media showed the child sucking on an e-cigarette provided by her aunt.

In one clip, a woman can be heard saying to the child, “Want to try?” Before sticking the vape in his mouth, while in another video, a woman is seen laughing as the child inhales toxic vapours.

The Daily Telegraph exclusively reported on Sunday night that the 16-year-old’s mother called the incident a “silly joke”.

“I wish I hadn’t done it, but it was not my intention to hurt him. I would never hurt him,” she told the newspaper.

NSW Police did not lay charges following an investigation. In a statement, he said, “no further action will be taken”.

A NSW Police spokesperson said, “Police have now spoken to the child’s family and following advice provided by medical professionals and other government agencies, no further police action will be taken.”

The decision not to press charges comes amid calls from horrified onlookers to take the child away from his mother.

One person commented, “Who gives their child a vashikaran, grow up to be a better mother.”

“How can you put vashikaran in your son’s mouth and watch him suck and laugh and cough.”

The mother later defended herself in a comment on Facebook.

“To every c*** hid to sit there and talk about me and my baby, take a look in your ass,” she wrote.

“You’re not even perfect, so keep your mouth on, you’re not scary, you’re nothing but a bum.”

For parents who believe their child has inhaled smoke from a vape, experts recommend seeking medical advice from a poison hotline or going to an emergency room.
