Anyone who’s just tried to go home for the holidays or got caught in a Southwest downpour can recognize that going home to your mom can be its own epic horror movie. Of course those trips rarely feature the same bizarre animated sight of Ari Aster (midsummer, hereditary), whose new film Beau is scared Totally focused on that.
Released once again by A24, Beau is scared Beau (Joaquin Phoenix), a paranoid man in the middle of a journey to see his mother. Along the way, he is hit by a car, gets caught (probably), walks several miles (probably), and is flung through some nightmarish, animated sequences (almost certainly; it is Aster, after all). .
Plus, if the early trailer is any indication, it’s going to have to go through some post-apocalyptic mayhem as well, as we see Beau running like a madman and jumping over people in the street or near a woman. passing by which is saying “I” Will Cut off my hands. clean!
Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Hayley Squires, Denise Menoshet, Kylie Rogers, Armen Nahapetyan, Parker Posey and Patti LuPone are joining Phoenix on his journey. Beau is scared Will open in cinemas on 21 April.
