Greensboro, NC – On the final day of the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships, the University of Chicago swimming and diving teams compiled 10 more All-American awards and scored the most points ever at a national meet.
The Maroon men finished third in the standings with 318 points for their highest ever team placement. The 2022 squad previously held that distinction with a seventh-place performance. At the conclusion of the meeting, head coach Jason Weber was named the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Men’s Swimming Coach of the Year.
The UChicago women claimed seventh place in the team standings with 266.5 points. It marked his second best team placement ever and his third straight Top 10 finish.
Emily Xu She was the top individual finisher on the day, as she placed fourth in the women’s 100-yard freestyle in 50.33 to earn All-American status. Karen Zhao Was a second team All-American in the 100 free, finishing 11th in a time of 51.23.
elisabella forest Set a new school record in the women’s 200-yard backstroke prelims as she touched the wall in 1:59.83. In the evening finals, Forrest’s fifth-place showing in 2:00.64 earned First Team All-America accolades.
The women’s 400-yard freestyle relay kicked things off with an All-American showdown. Zoo Quartet, Annabel Olivo, Filippa Kolokotsa And Zhao finished fifth with a timing of 3:24.59.
In the final event of the night, the men’s 400-yard freestyle relay clocked in a new school record time (2:55.79) and placed second in the race. Featured All-American Relay Garrett Klassen, Sebastian Vernes, Kyle Garcia And arthur kiselnikov, This marked the first time that the Maroon men placed all five of their relay positions in the top eight at the NCAAs.
UChicago produced a pair of All-Americans in the men’s three-meter dive. logan sherwin 11th with 450.80 marks and Andrew Chen Was 15th with 418.95 points.
Three additional Maroons took away second team All-American honors. John Paul Phillips Was 14th in the 200-yard backstroke, marcel milo-sidlo Kiselnikov was 15th in the 1,650-yard freestyle and 16th in the 100-yard freestyle.
