Maroon Softball drops a pair to CWRU

chicago – The University of Chicago softball team wrapped up its regular season with two losses when visiting Case Western Reserve University on Saturday.

The Maroons ran their record to 24–12–1. The No. 3-ranked Spartans improved to 37–3.


Game One – Case Western Reserve 3, UChicago 1

First an RBI groundout in the top of CWRU for a quick lead, then two more came in the fourth inning on an error and a triple.

UChicago got one back in the bottom of the sixth as two errors on the same play scored a runner from second base. But it would be all the hosts got as Case Western Reserves closed out the victory.

The Maroons posted four hits and one error. Julia Focal Batted 2-for-4.

starting pitcher Paige Hefke (14–6 record) threw all seven innings, striking out five.


Game Two – Case Western Reserve 8, UChicago 0 (5 innings)

The visitors started off by scoring four runs in the top of the first. He extended the lead to 8–0 by the middle of the fourth inning and kept the Maroons off the scoreboard to end the game via the run rule.

In box scores, UChicago had four hits while committing five errors. anna jensen went 2-for-3 at the plate.

delaney romanchik (2-4 record) absorbed the loss. Delaney Choi Threw the remaining 4.2 innings in relief.
