
Appleton, Wis. – The University of Chicago baseball team ended its three-game series at Lawrence University with a 14-7 win on Sunday.
The Maroons improved to 24–16 overall and 15–9 in the Midwest Conference. UChicago will next play in the MWC tournament on May 12–13 in a double-elimination format as the No. 3 seed. The Vikings fell to 15–22 (10–14 MWC).

After Lawrence tied things up in the bottom of the third, UChicago broke through, scoring three runs in the sixth and four in the seventh. Sharpe picked up an RBI sacrifice fly to center, Jonathan Zeevi RBI cracked double to right will benner Knocked down an RBI single to left. Next inning, Sharp and Zeevi were at it again with a pair of RBI singles. Benner’s RBI fielder’s choice and Brady MillerKay’s sacrifice fly cut the lead to 9–2.
While the Vikings pulled out to a 9–7 lead in the ninth inning, the Maroons kept them at bay by scoring five runs in the top of the frame. The runs in the inning came on a bases-loaded hit pitch, a wild pitch, a sacrifice fly, a throwing error, and a fielder’s choice.
Seven Maroons finished with multiple hits for 18 total in the game. Zeevi led the way by going 4-for-5 with two RBI. Sharp was 3-for-5 with three RBI. Benner and Jirovec were both 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Jack Goldstein while counting three hits blaine souper And Eric Rinder posted two hits in each.
