chicago – University of Chicago Rachel Keefe Tuesday was recognized with a pair of weekly accolades. She received Defensive Player of the Week awards from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW).
Keefe led the No. 16-ranked Maroons to a 7-5 victory at the University of Mary Washington on Sunday. The sophomore goaltender made a season-high 16 saves while allowing only five goals. She limited Mary Washington to 1-for-4 on free-position shots. Additionally, Keef caught two ground balls and caused a turnover.
So far this season, Keefe has compiled a 3-0 record with a 6.18 goals against average and .605 save percentage.
