
Although it’s been 10 months since his last fight, UFC welterweight Gabe Green doesn’t look back on the past year with any bad feelings.
Rather than fret about his position, Green remains optimistic, and is now finally ready to take action for the first time since last July.
“Things are good,” said Green MMAWeekly.com, “I would have liked to fight a little earlier, but God didn’t think it would, so it didn’t happen, but I’m happy to be back in the cage (for this upcoming fight).”
While Green hasn’t fought in nearly a year, he has been active in training and feels like a better version of himself than the last time he was in the Octagon.
“I’m one of those guys who never stops going to the gym,” Green said. “I’m always grinding. I wasn’t really working on anything in particular, but getting better across the board.
âI did some more strength training, so I got stronger and I am definitely looking forward to using that new strength in the upcoming bout.â

This Saturday in Charlotte, NC, Green (11-4) will face Brian Battle (8-2) in a welterweight preliminary bout. UFC on ABC 4: Rosenstruik vs. Alameda.
“I guess I just have to go out there and do my job,” Green said. “[Battle]is a good fighter. He won TUF, and he’s not lazy. Everyone in the UFC is a very dangerous person, but I think as long as I go out there and do my job, I’ll be fine.
“I’m going to go out there and do my job. My job is always to make it exciting and let the fireworks fly. I’m always trying to stamp it out.

With half a year still to go in 2023, Green hopes to be more active and compete at the end of the year.
“I would still love to fight three times this year,” said Green. “Whatever they have planned for me is what’s going to happen and whatever the UFC does. I’ll be ready.
“I’m always in the gym training. I can always make weight. I can fight right away or if I wait a bit â I’ll always be ready.”
