What happened at the end of ‘everything everywhere all together’?
In everything together everywhereEvelyn is visited by her husband Waymond (Ke Hui Quan) from an alternate universe, known as the “Alphaverse”. He warns Evelyn that she must join parallel universe versions of herself in order to save the multiverse. During the jump in time and space, Evelyn meets her IRS inspector Deidre (Jamie Lee Curtis), and realizes that the big bad in all of this is Jobu Tupaki, the Alphaverse’s version of his daughter Joy (stephanie sue, Evelyn has a rocky relationship with her daughter, who is gay, and is not accepted by her family. Evelyn is also dealing with major marital conflicts with Waymond, who wants a divorce.
Therefore, Evelyn learns that Jobu Tupaki wants to destroy the multiverse and has created an “Everything Bagel” black hole to do so. Jobu nearly recruits Evelyn to his cause, until one of Waymond’s alternate versions convinces him that he can win with kindness and love. This inspires Evelyn to use what she’s learned from multiverse jumping to find out what’s hurting those around her and help them. Once she reaches her daughter, Evelyn and Joey have an emotional conversation where they reconcile, with Evelyn telling Joey that she would like to be with him forever.
With Evelyn and Joey’s relationship on the mend, their regular lives are restored and the multiverse battle is finally over. Evelyn and Waymond settle their marriage and the joint family prepares to deal with their IRS problems. Also, Evelyn finally introduces Joey’s girlfriend, Becky (tally mandel) her father gong gong (james hong), proving that she really adores Joey. In the final scene, Evelyn and her family are talking to the IRS when she is briefly pulled from her alternate form from the multiverse, but she remains in her body in her home universe.

“The audience wants to be in control and feel like they’re smarter than the movie. And this movie was meant to reconnect with all of that stuff and basically, as an audience member, you either have to completely Have to let go and get pulled into the movie, or if you’re trying to process it all,” Kwan said. “And I think that for people who don’t like this movie, it’s often because they were never able to fully let go.”
Shenert said, “I think it was something that was a lot of fun. Once we started showing rough cuts to people and they said they just have to let go of logic and follow emotion at a certain point. And Then the question became, at what point do we want them to do that? Because you don’t want them to give up too quickly. But it’s an exciting thing for the audience to do when it’s not the norm, when the norm is very opposite.

Shenert said, “We tried to make an empathetic story about how hard it is for our generation of parents to understand.
