chicago Chicago Director of Athletics and Recreation Angie Toren announced the hiring of Arianne Roberts as the department’s deputy athletic director for internal operations. His start date will be June 1.

As Deputy Athletic Director, Roberts’ primary responsibilities will include comprehensive oversight of the department’s sports operations, university facility scheduling, marketing and promotion, athletic communications, NCAA rules compliance, community engagement, Title IX and student-athlete development programs. She will also be the liaison to the University’s Campus Career Services, Communications, Marketing and Licensing departments.

Roberts comes to Hyde Park after serving as deputy director of athletics and senior women’s administrator at Ithaca College. She joined the Bombers as Associate Director of Athletics in July 2018 and was promoted to Deputy Director at the start of the 2022–23 academic year. During his time at Ithaca, Roberts was responsible for sports administration oversight, Title IX and compliance, co-advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, and championship/tournament director for several postseason events – including championship director for the 2022 NCGA Championships. Prior to that, Roberts was the assistant athletics director and senior women’s administrator at Slippery Rock University for six years. She also worked in the athletic department of Miles College for two years.

Roberts received his bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate degree from Duquesne University. As a law school student, Roberts served as a senator for the Student Bar Association and an officer in the Black Law Students Association. He spoke with the Honorable Judge Walter H. Rice (Federal Judge, Southern District of Ohio) and the Honorable Michael R. Turner did an internship in the US House of Representatives.
