Virginie Wired’s fall-winter collection was all about body diversity and replete with references to the camellia flower, a key brand symbol
French label Chanel created a double runway covered in black sand inside the Grand Palais Ephémère in Paris to present a collection that referenced a key brand symbol, the camellia flower.
The show set was built around white camellia statues facing the audience. The camellia is believed to have first become an obsession of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in 1913, when she pinned one to her belt, explains a report in the AP. Creative director Virginie Viard said, “Camellia is more than a theme, it’s an eternal code.” “I love the softness of it and the strength of it.” The show was very diverse, with models from different body shapes presenting a fabulous and fun collection.

Flowers appeared in clothing and accessories throughout the show, though Wired’s aesthetic was restrained.
A Reuters report said that most of the looks were black and white, paraded by models walking in shiny black platform boots, often with patterned white tights.

Viard also introduced dandy British dressing gowns and jackets.

The AP reports that the ubiquitous sparkle of sequins and plays in shape — slits in gowns, swoops of diagonal fabric on asymmetrical coats and skirts — gave the collection momentum. Wired said, “The muted colors, the dusky pink, the sculpted pieces, the 1960s and 70s touches, a decidedly English vibe, the cozy draped coats, the authentic materials, make the collection more real and even more edgy.”
