A Michigan girl survived an attempted kidnapping after her brother used a slingshot to kill the potential attacker, authorities said this week.
According to a news release, an 8-year-old girl was mushroom hunting in her backyard when an unidentified male came out of the woods, grabbed the girl and covered her mouth. The victim protested and was able to separate from the accused. His 13-year-old brother witnessed the attempted kidnapping and shot the suspect in the head and chest with a slingshot before the suspect fled.
The 17-year-old’s name has not been released, though he is charged as an adult with one count of attempted kidnapping/attempt to entice a child, one count of attempted bodily harm less than murder, and one count of assault and battery went. ,
During an interview with detectives, police allege the suspect admitted that he planned to severely beat the child.

Police later arrested the 17-year-old based on a description from another family member of the suspect. The officials also said that the teenager had visible slingshot wounds.
