March 13—A man was hospitalized after being shot by an officer in Colorado Springs on Sunday, police said.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a home in the 1000 block of North Foote Avenue and began searching the home for the suspect, according to the blotter entry.
The admission said that after locating the suspect, the officers “gave a verbal command, which the suspect refused to obey.” Police said a Taser was deployed but was ineffective and at least one officer fired at the suspect, killing him.
The suspect, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital and his condition is unknown. Officials said one officer has been placed on administrative leave per guidelines and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has taken over the investigation.
